I thought I would try this at least once. Since everyone here is a fan of Japanese artwork, why not share links to some of your favorite illustrators?

The rules are simple and actually fairly lax. You may only have one artist per post. The first thing on your post must be the link, and underneath it a brief description of specifics about the author like his/her name or alias, his/her gender, and his/her profession. If known that is.

And here's the important part. You must provide a paragraph or two about why you like the illustrator, how you came to know him/her or know about him/her, and whatever else you feel is pertinent. Use well-formed coherent sentences with proper capitalization and punctuations where necessary.

TOBE Sunaho's website.

I came about her site by sheer accident several years ago, and bookmarked it because I thought her art was very cute. I became reacquainted with her with the release of the first episode of Zettai Shounen. It seemed she provided character designs or something to that extent. She was listed in the 'links' section of the official site. I clicked and landed myself on her website. I had forgotten I already bookmarked her, so I ended up bookmarking her twice.

What I like about her art style is her subtle roughness and her general fantasy settings painted with light colors. There's something alluring about it, and makes it stick out from other more generic illustrators.

I bought her manga, Sora no ManiMani, by looking at its cover. Fortunately for me it had good art so it ended up being worth my money. In addition to having a unique art style, her characters are just really really cute. I guess you could say I just fell in love. Plus, most of the illustrations in her gallery are in high resolution, so it makes my eyes hurt. That's a good sign.

Does that count? I'd post more and ones I know about more, but don't have the links with me.

Well it doesn't not work... so meh, I guess. Try to add a bit more text to your post next time though.

He's become quite popular recently after Binbou Shimai Monogatari got animated by Toei. But I found his site before he hit it big... actually, before I even knew about Binbou Shimai Monogatari. I don't know how I stumbled across his site, but I saw the picture of the cat burglar and I decided to bookmark it.

A simplistic art style with a likeness to barasui's, but with a much more sinister twist. I instantly fell in love with his art style after looking at the cover to his __hon no juunin manga. Unfortunately the manga went out of stock soon after I ordered it so I have yet to read it, but hopefully one day I will.

In addition to being an illustrator, a portion of his site is dedicated to his reviews of music. I thought it was a nice touch, and shows that artists aren't 2-dimensional like their images.

He has a very detailed style that is nice to look at in black and white. But his colored works aren't so bad either. It's hard to pinpoint the influences in his art style, but I might have to say shoujo artists. His manga Crimson Shell is currently running in G-Fantasy, and it lacks an interesting story, but his art is nice and for that I'll be patient and wait for him to release something worth reading.

There's no way you can not know this person. He's the one who provided the illustrations to moe-tan, the best-selling education book for learning English. If you haven't seen one of this pictures yet then you are living under a rock. He mostly draws cute loli stuff so his fanbase amongst the mainstream may be non-existent. He provides illustrations for various things from music CDs to promotional or header banners to books.

I have been very obsessed with Nanoha series lately, so naturally, I checked out some Doujins.
RAID SLASH produced two of my favorite Nanoha Doujins(Thunder Bird & Fake Jewl) and I really liked his/her artwork style(Sorry, I didn't bother doing a research on the artist)

You provided more than enough information. And thank you for the artist. I added him to my favorites. Very nicely drawn I must say.

A link to the doujin circle "Quarter Iceshop" because you mentioned Nanoha and I happen to love these guy's 4-koma strips. The art is adorable as well. Aside from that, I don't know shit.

The illustrator for the sci-fi light novel series Wizard's Brain, also a Castlevania fan. I really like his soft lineart as well as the painted look that his pictures have. He's also done a few albino pics, and I have a total albino fetish. My favorite pics of his are #31, #28, and #24.

Gender: Male
Profession: The Disgaea/Makai Kingdom/Phantom Brave artist and character designer.

Harada, the Disgaea artist. If you don't know this guy, you need to play more JSRPGs. Why I like him? His art is awesome, Pleinair, characters are unique in their design, Pleinair, and the colors and clothing designs of them work perfectly. Truly a brilliant artist through and through with plenty of bases covered.
